Anole doesn't trust Ivy at all. At all. I don't think it comes through in our threads, just because of the lack of tone inherent to the written word, but he is very, very guarded around Ivy and always picks his words carefully, even when he is doing the casual, sarcastic banter thing. It's okay that it doesn't come through since he's a good enough actor to hide it and appear casual but really he's always ready to, like, dodge sudden flying trees or whatever.

That said, it's not a guardedness brought about out of fear (because, let's face it, after a racist blows up 90% of your friends, invades your home and shoots even more of your friends and then you get sucked into Hell and fight the devil it takes more than a sarcastic green woman to rattle you). He's not sure if he could take Ivy, but he's confident enough that if it ever came to it, he could at least slow her down long enough to ruin whatever supervillain plan she has.

So, basically, he is a young, dumb, hero that isn't quite dumb enough to pick a fight and is more than happy to keep things civil as long as Ivy doesn't start anything.
